Events We Love This Week: December 3-10, 2025
In the city this week? Here are some fun events we’re keeping an eye on.
Tree Lighting Ceremonies, Including Rockefeller Center - All Week
The Rockefeller holiday tree has its roots in 1931, when, during the Great Depression, workers at the Rockefeller Center complex pooled their money to buy a 20-foot balsam fir that they decorated with handmade garland and decorations.
Fast forward 94 years, and this year’s 75-foot-tall Norway Spruce will be adorned with over 50,000 LED lights and a 9-foot Swarovski star.
Today is the lighting ceremony and will feature live performances from acts like:
Marc Anthony
Halle Bailey
Michael Bublé
Kristin Chenoweth
Laufey
New Edition
Brad Paisley
Carly Pearce
Gwen Stefani
The Radio City Rockettes and more
You can see it all in person today, starting at 7pm EST. It’s also available to view on NBC starting at 8pm. If you plan to attend in person, get there very early and expect a LOT of crowds.

Holiday Nostalgia Ride - Every Sunday in December from 10am-5pm
This holiday season, the New York Transit Museum and MTA New York City Transit continue the annual tradition of Holiday Nostalgia Rides aboard vintage 1930s train cars.
Train departs from 2 Av–Houston St on the uptown F line and 96 St–2 Av on the Q line roughly every hour.
These festive trains can get crowded, so check the full schedule of stops here.

6 Cheap Bars in Manhattan
Finding cheap drinks in NYC, amidst the swath of $18 Gin & Tonics, is vital for any traveler or local.
We’re gonna let you in on 6 spots that aren’t only cheap, but the vibes are immaculate.
#5 on this list is the perfect place for drinks before or after a Broadway show!
You’ll Have to Check It Out - Tara Mor
While you can’t beat a pour of Guinness in Dublin, I’ve been on a search for a close second here in New York City.
Many attempts, most of them good, but none as delicious as at Tara Mor.
Crisp, rich flavor, and perfectly poured. Plus, the food made me feel like I was back in Ireland. ⤵️
The Irish Spice Bag was unbelievable. Perfectly cooked, both spicy and salty, fries, suatéed peppers and onions, and doused in their signature seasoning. All topped with crispy chicken tenders.
You have to try it if you go. 👍
Holiday Tours & Events
While the city is crowded during the holiday season, there is a special ambiance throughout. We’ve compiled a few popular holiday activities, including the Rockettes, holiday harbor cruises, and more.
