Here Is New York: Capturing NYC’s Energy
Few books capture the allure, energy, and magneticism that New York City offers.
Written in the mid-20th century, E.B. White’s Here is New York is the ultimate love letter to the sprawling metropolis.
It’s a quick read, at only 56 pages, and makes the perfect coffee table book for any New York City apartment or lover of the city.
NY Mets Game Guide ⚾️
Attending a New York Mets game at Citi Field is a phenomenal experience for locals and tourists alike.
With its proximity to some excellent Asian food in Flushing, cheap ticket prices (generally), and a fun atmosphere, it's an activity we highly recommend!
Even if you don’t love sports, it’s a fairly-priced activity that allows you to explore a new part of the city and experience the ambiance of this beautiful stadium.
(We also cover some of the best spots to eat in nearby Flushing, a true mecca for foodies.)
Events We Love This Week: June 18-25, 2025
In the city this week? Here are some fun events we’re keeping an eye on.
International Yoga Day Free Silent Disco - June 21
Join Shape Up NYC in celebrating International Yoga Day at a free fitness silent disco at Thomas Jefferson Park. Yoga classes will be led by instructors Rika and Michele.
Yoga mats will be given away to participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
BRESH Latin Party at Pier 17 - June 21
“One of the world’s biggest Latin parties is heading to one of New York’s coolest venues. On Saturday, June 21, BRESH is taking over The Rooftop at Pier 17 for a high energy sunset celebration.
Get ready for a glittery bash of all things pop, reggaeton and more. Along with some of the biggest reggaeton hits, guests will be able to take in sweeping sunset views and hit the dance floor to some high energy beats.”
You’ll Have to Check It Out - White Bear
Few places have cultivated as much of a cult following as White Bear in Flushing.
Their wontons in chili oil (the #6) are otherworldly.
It’s a small, single-family operation that has been around for decades, where a few people handle all aspects, from taking your order to preparing the food.
Open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and cash only. Do NOT miss it.
Have a great week,
Ashley & Devin from Better Together Here 🥟
