Events We Love This Week: October 1-8, 2025

In the city this week? Here are some fun events we’re keeping an eye on.

Off-Broadway Week - October 14-26 (sales start now)

Don’t let the name fool you; “Off-Broadway” simply means the theater seats fewer than 500 people..The talent, stories, and entertainment are still top-notch.

Off-Broadway Week offers 2-for-1 tickets to loads of different shows, running from October 14-26.

Tickets sell out quickly, and public sales started yesterday.. So head here to learn more and get your tickets!

We’ve always had amazing experiences at Off-Broadway shows, so don’t miss this one!

Archtober - All of October, Multiple Events & Exhibitions

I’ll let them describe Archtober in their own words..

“This year marks the 15th anniversary of Archtober, New York City's month-long Festival of architecture and design! We are excited to announce our theme: Shared Spaces.

This theme considers a world where space and resources are shared responsibly, inviting participants to re-envision how we move, connect, and live together in New York City. ‍ ‍Shared Spaces also points to the cast of collaborators who are actively shaping and experiencing the city, such as architecture firms, urban developers, civic organizations, activists, and the public. It holds our collective wonder, anxiety, learning, and joy, making room for the complexity of the human experience in 2025.”

You’ll find events like:

  • Grand Central Terminal tour

  • Around Manhattan Architecture boat tours

  • Walking tours

  • Tiffany Lamps: Lighting Luxury at the Queens Museum

  • and sooooo much more!

New York Know How - Bring an Umbrella

Our recommendation?

Snag a compact umbrella and take it with you during the fall and winter months.

You’ll Have to Check It Out - La Bonne Soupe

Squash Risotto

This bistro-style French restaurant opened in 1973 and offers a variety of dishes, including their popular French onion soup!

On certain nights, they also have live music nestled up in the entrance corner.. very dreamy. 🎻

Bouef Bourguignon

The price range for sit-down French cuisine is average: You can plan to spend about $35-$50 per person.

And while it’s not overly fancy, I wouldn’t show up here in shorts or a ballcap.

French Onion Soup

La Bonne Soupe is a fantastic pre-Broadway, post-MoMA, or lunch spot if you’re in the Midtown area.

Our favorites from La Bonne Soupe are:

  • French onion soup

  • Boeuf bourguignon

  • Squash risotto

  • Mousse au chocolat

  • Burger de la maison

See our full write-up in our Restaurants Near the MoMA article.

5 Practical Safety Tips

When it comes to exploring the vibrant streets of New York City, safety should be a strong consideration.

The city offers a unique and dynamic environment, but it’s important to take necessary precautions to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.

Let’s be clear.. Crime is down across the board in New York City. 📉

Don’t believe the sensationalism you see on certain network TV shows (we won’t name names)…

With that being said, a city with millions of people creates a need to be aware of your surroundings and to prioritize safety as you explore.
