5 Must-Try Restaurants Near the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

The Museum of Modern Art (aka the MoMA) is one of the most popular museums in New York City. It boasts some of the most well-known and unique modern art pieces in the world. You should go if you visit NYC!

But before you head in, be sure to eat at one of these 5 must-try and best restaurants near the MoMA.

If not, you’ll end up hungry with more floors to explore. 👎

We’ve included five unique cuisines, differing price ranges, and some faster options if you’re in a time crunch.

New York Know-How: Let ‘Em Exit First 🫡

See these people above? ^

They’re doing it wrong!!

When the train arrives at your station, stand to the side of the doors and let people get OFF the train first. It’s a simple logic that can make everyone’s life much easier.

If you try to enter as people are exiting, well.. That’s what we call a bottleneck. 😬

So, wait for those exiting, then enter the train.

It’s a win-win situation. 😁

Events We Love This Week (April 9-16, 2025)

In the city this week? Here are some fun events we’re keeping an eye on.

Smorgasburg Returns - Every Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Dubbed “the Woodstock of Eating” by The New York Times, Smorgasburg is the largest weekly open-air food market in America, welcoming more than 2 million visitors a year to markets in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami.

You’ll find a wide variety (and a plethora) of food vendors, so plan on eating LOTS!

In NYC, the locations and days are as follows:

  • World Trade Center - Every Friday, 11 am - 6 pm

  • Williamsburg at Marsha P. Johnson State Park - Every Saturday, 11 am - 6 pm

  • Prospect Park - Every Sunday, 11 am - 6 pm

New York City Fringe - Multiple Days from April 2nd - 20th

New York City Fringe (formally the FRIGID Fringe Festival) is an open, lottery-based theater festival that gives artists an opportunity to let their ingenuity thrive in an environment that values freedom of expression and artistic determination.

In true support of the Indie Theater Community, 100% of box office proceeds go directly to the artists whose work is being presented.

NYC History: ASPCA’s Founding 🐶

In 1863, Henry Bergh witnessed horrific conditions and abuses of work horses while serving at a diplomatic post in Russia.

As he made his way home in 1865, he passed through London and visited the 'Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.’ Spurred by what he learned there, he became adamant about improving the safety and wellness of animals back in America.

After much pleading and lobbying in New York, Bergh convinced the New York State legislature to pass the charter incorporating the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).

The date of incorporation was April 10, 1866 - 159 years ago tomorrow.

Nine days later, the first anti-cruelty law in the United States was passed, allowing the ASPCA to investigate complaints of animal cruelty.

The ASPCA continues to do vital work today; we’re grateful for Bergh’s work advocating for animals. 🥰

This Week’s You’ll Have to Check It Out - Electric Shuffle

Fun games for all skill levels? Yep ✅

Live DJ playing great songs? Yep ✅

Phenomenal drink options? Yep ✅ (I highly recommend Son of a Peach)

Electric Shuffle in NoMad is a new-ish spot perfect for a night out with friends looking for some friendly competition.

They offer a variety of game options that are perfect for complete beginners while still providing an easy-to-use scoring and game-choice system.

We had an AMAZING time here with a few friends and highly recommend it! 🙌
