+ A vital taxi tip & new video, sights & sounds of Central Park 🌳
Hi again,
An abandoned airport in Queens will see a $3.2 billion overhaul turning it into green spaces, homes, and businesses. Just be patient.. construction isn’t slated until 2028. See you then! 😜
And now…
In this week’s newsletter:

Events We Love This Week: July 22-29, 2026
In the city this week? Here are some fun events we’re keeping an eye on.
Future Event: We’re giving a bonus shout-out for Sushi-Con on October 11. Plan ahead.
Flaco the Owl Documentary, “Wild Inside”, Premiere - Wednesday, July 29 @ 8:30 pm
Flaco, a Eurasian eagle-owl who escaped from the Central Park Zoo, captured NYC’s hearts and attention a few years ago, will be further memorialized with the release of Wild Inside.
This documentary follows Flaco’s journey from captivity to the city’s rooftops until his eventual death in 2024. The full-length film investigates Flaco, zoo ethics, owl family trees, and more.
The premiere will be held at the Great Hill in Central Park; arrive at 7:30 for a good spot!
Yoga in Central Park: The Artist Series - July 28 @ 6:30 pm
I’ve been lucky enough to see both Odesza & RÜFÜS DU SOL perform live, and both experiences were euphoric and deeply meaningful.
What does that have to do with free yoga in Central Park?
Well, Tuesday’s free yoga experience will follow a curated playlist from these two artists. Expect high-energy moments with a touch of melody & introspection.
New York Know How - Is That Taxi Available?

If you’re trying to hail a cab, it’s important not to waste your time or energy on occupied taxis.
So how can you know..?
Simple! If the light on top of the taxi (see the red arrow in the pic above) is ON, then the cab is available.
If the light is OFF, the taxi is occupied and not available.
Now you know! 🫡
You’ll Have to Check It Out - Haswell Green’s
Haswell Green was a prominent planner of NYC, and played a role in developing Central Park, the Museum of Natural History, The MET, and loads of other parks and attractions.
He’s also the namesake of a phenomenal bar in Midtown with something to offer for damn near everyone.
Between their live music offerings every day of the week, extensive cocktail selection, and delicious pub grub, Haswell Green’s can keep everyone in your group happy!
Plus, their TV setup makes it a phenomenal spot to watch any sporting event.
Bonus, it’s the supporter’s bar for Oklahoma Sooners football and the Cleveland Browns (my team). So if you wanna see some always-believing-forever-depressed sports fans, come catch a Browns game during the NFL season.

5 Cheaper (or Free) Alternatives to NYC Tourist Attractions
New York City is home to dozens of world-famous attractions that most visitors are eager to experience. Unfortunately, some of the most popular tourist attractions are not cheap.
While some of these are worth the admission fee, this article lays out cheap (and even free) alternatives to help ease the financial burden of exploring NYC.
We’ll cover alternatives to observation decks, Broadway shows, and much more. 👇
See ya next week,
